Rebecca McKeich Parents are often left without a clue when it comes to decorating their children’s bedrooms. Phases and fads come and go so quickly it is impossible to keep up. One minute they are crazy about the biggest TV show on Disney channel and then the next they are completely over it. A cheap and creative way to have their room reflect their personality is to use your tween bedding to do it.
If you visit your closest bedding store you will be able to find duvet covers and pillow cases emblazoned with the latest celebrity sensations from cartoon characters to child rock stars. These are generally inexpensive so you will be able to keep up with the ever changing obsessions that your children go through.
Visiting your nearest kids’ bedding store will leave you pleasantly surprised, however, because you will be able to find these characters emblazoned on duvet covers and pillow cases. That’s not the surprising part though, what is surprising is that these items are relatively affordable. This means that giving in to the demands of your child in this case will not cost you an arm and a leg.
You won’t have to sacrifice much and you will also be able to keep your child happy by seemingly giving in to their impassioned demands if you go the bed linen route. Bright colors and funky prints instantly spruce up the bedroom and it creates a space that reflects your child’s personality and tastes.
Taking the creativity a step further would save even more money if you turn it into a decorative project. Instead of buying branded duvet covers and pillow cases, you can opt for using the theme as a basis for your color choices. So instead of Ben 10, save a few and use combinations of blue and bright green for the duvet cover and pillow case.
Your child will still be able to associate the two because the color schemes of these enterprises have become so well known the world over. If a child sees a combination of bright green with black, their brains already start processing the image of Ben 10.
Add little touches like fake fur trim and sparkles to give it that star quality feel and you won’t be looking back. The same goes for any major television show or character; involve your child in a brainstorming session and think of new and fun ways to theme their bedroom using that as a basis for your ideas.
Make the trip out to the linen store a fun one and remember to incorporate other little accessories that will help you carry out the theme as well. Hannah Montana fans will adore a sparkly throw pillow and perhaps a pink feather boa around the base of their bed.
There are so many ways in which you can use your bedding for kids to brighten up their rooms. When making decision on bedding set, think of creative and fun ways to decorate together.
